One index. A view of global markets.
WEI, the World Economy Index, is a composite market indicator developed by this platform. It brings price changes across ten market categories into one index, alongside economic commentary and a simulation game for learning about markets.

5%How is the index calculated?
WEI starts from a baseline of 1,000,000 points on 2026-09-12. This is a reference level for observing changes, not a monetary amount or the value of global GDP.
Available component returns are combined using the configured weights and linked to the preceding index level. When data is incomplete, calculations use available weights. Read the missing-component, coverage and quote-time information alongside the index.
Economy, risk and macro-state scores describe market momentum, pressure and combined signals. They are not GDP growth rates or calibrated event probabilities. News, rumors and astrology experiments do not enter the WEI index calculation.
Where does the data come from, and how often does it update?
- Market quotes: representative indices and instruments provided through Yahoo Finance, with sources shown for each component.
- WGEI equities: broad market indices, with weights based on January 2026 domestic market capitalization figures from the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).
- Historical macroeconomic context: sources including the World Bank and FRED, displayed at their original reporting frequency and read separately from the market index.
The dashboard refreshes available observations, but trading hours, market closures and provider delays differ. A page update time is not necessarily the quote time of every component. Check source timestamps, market state and delay notices.
SHENX and the Forecast Game
SHENX is the virtual game currency in the WEI Forecast Game, used for simulated index-trading margin, fees and profit or loss settlement. Sign in to view your game balance, ledger and reward rules.
Platform game balances and Base Sepolia testnet tokens are recorded separately. A game balance is not cash, and simulated results are not real investment returns. Read the game rules before participating.
Frequently asked questions
Is WEI an official economic statistic?
WEI is compiled by this platform. It is not an official GDP, inflation or unemployment statistic issued by a government or international institution. Using a source does not imply endorsement by that institution.
Does a rising WEI mean every market is rising?
No. WEI expresses the weighted combined change; individual markets can move in different directions. Explore the dashboard components to see their trends and contributions.
Are forecasts guaranteed outcomes?
Forecasts depend on models, available data and assumptions, and can be wrong. The index, analysis and game support observation and learning and do not constitute investment advice.
